Banana Blondies W/ Brown Butter Frosting

I am going through a process in my life where I’m doing my best to not waste food. At one point my husband and I notice ourselves tossing all kinds of food and it became disheartening that we where allowing this to happen.

So we said nuff is a nuff!

One pesky item that always seemed to hang around a bit to long was bananas.

So i began the search…thank you Pintrest you always know me so well. like you can hear my thoughts. Can you hear my thoughts?

Feels like computers do that sometimes, do you ever feel that way?

Any ways back to the pesky bananas!

This was a common recipe I was running across so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out they probably taste pretty darn good.

After whipping them up and taking the first bite into these moist luscious bars it was like I immediately drifted into my happy place.

This was my first time tasting browned butter and not the last it’s heavenly!

Now that you are worked up, I know I am lets begin.

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups light brown sugar (I used dark it’s all I had)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup mashed banana (2 medium bananas)

Brown sugar frosting

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 light brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

To begin preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Then line a 9×13 inch baking pan with foil and coat with cooking spray. Set aside.

Now in a large bowl combine the melted butter and brown sugar.

Mix in the eggs, vanilla, flour, salt, and banana. Mix it all up until nice smooth.

Now pour the mixture into the pan you prepped and even out the top a bit.

Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the center is set.

It is now time for the best frosting on this planet. No i’m not joking either.

In a medium sauce pan melt the butter on medium heat and cook it until it starts to boil and starts to brown up a bit. Set a side to cool for 5 minutes.

After it has cooled pour in the powdered sugar slowing combine until it becomes a frosting texture.

Pour the yummy goodness all over the top of the bars and let it set.

Had to let the boys taste test the batter 🙂 Thumbs up says its a winner!

This was a winner in book. Blog worthy.

Dangerous little buggers at the same time. Not many sweet treats tempt me to the point these sneaky yummy suckers have.

Enjoy ❤
