This is an all time favorite recipe, Slightly modified from the recipe Ree Drummond has on her page but still the same concept. Link here
The absolute best part about this sauce is that its versatile. It can be used in so many recipes!
You can make it in bulk and freeze it to keep on hand when say you have a random family member come stay with you and you must entertain and full fill all the other chores in the house.
So to begin you will need to gather the following ingredients.
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage
- 2 cans of crushed tomatoes
- 1 can petite diced tomatoes
- 2 Tbs olive oil
- 1 large white onion
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 1 cup white wine
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp pepper
- 1tsp oregano
- 1 Tbs cracked red pepper
- 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 jar store bought marinara sauce (good quality)
Just listing out the ingredients I feel like i can smell it already cooking in the kitchen.
I am a Italian food lover to the max. I feel as if I could live off of pasta dishes, garlic bread, breaded chicken. (tummy grumbles)
Back to the FOOD 🙂
In a large pot over medium-high heat brown the ground beef and sausage. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and discard any extra grease.
Set the meat aside.
Do not clean the pot after discarding the grease! DO NOT DO IT!
Set the pan back to medium-high heat then drizzle in olive oil.
Toss in the onions and let them cook for 1-2 minutes. Next toss in the garlic and let that cook for another minute or so.
Ready for some flavor??
Pour in the wine.
Now…lets take a moment to enjoy that amazing smell sneaking up into the air, it truly is a desired smell for me.
Once the wine has reduced by about half you can add in the marinara sauce, and canned tomatoes dice and crushed.
Sprinkle in the salt, pepper, cracked red pepper, and oregano.
Stir that goodness up.
Lets add meat mixture back into the pan and let this simmer for at least an hour!
YES i did say an HOUR… Good things are worth waiting for. Thats what they say right?
Once its simmered its time to add in the parsley, and add half of the parmesan. Let it simmer for another 15 minutes.
Smell the goodness 🙂
Spoon this meat sauce over the noodles top with parmesan & parsley then serve it with a side of garlic bread.
You are sure to get a few high fives for this one!!
Super delicious, extremely vestal, and a crowd pleaser!
